Of all the Giffen close-ups in this run - and there must be at least a hundred - this one from a doomed Science Police officer, facing certain death with a steel gaze and a set jaw, is one of the very best. With the comic's nine-panel rigidity, the Giffen close-up was always a super-effective and ultra-efficient way to get inside a character's head, and everything you need to know a random cop's deep demeanor and ultimate fate is there in that panel.
