The hell with Mull of Kintyre

It took me a while and I had a lot of self-imposed snobbery to shed, but I have come around to Paul McCartney's post-Beatles tunes. Obvious classics like Band on the Run, Jet and Live And Let Die are as good as anything he did with the other lads, and I can even find nice things to say about Coming Up or No More Lonely Nights these days.

But Mull of Kintyre can still go fuck itself. It's just an absolute dirge of a song, bland and obvious, and tastes like six-day old porridge. My hatred for that song is primal, it's the first tune I can ever remember truly despising, from a very early age, when it was on the radio all the bloody time. I hate it like I hate Captain Sunshine

It popped up on a random playlist the other day so I thought I should give it a chance again, but no. Just no.

It's not just the bagpipes, it's the everything. I forgot, but now I remember - it's just the worst song ever, I feel physically sick when I listen to it. Fuck off, Mull of Kintyre. Fuck off forever.

(You're still a deadset legend, Paul. But not with this one.)
