I'm not sayin' Queens of the Stone Age are the best rock band of the 21st century with their chunky riffs, adorable melodies, rampant experimentation, funky lyrics and extraordinary energy, I'm just sayin'.
I once saw that first chunky blast of guitar at the start of the Songs For The Deaf album literally knock a mate of mine back on his arse, while he was crouching in front of the stereo.
One time, when we were stuck for days barelling through the winter deserts of Utah and Arizona, we only had two albums in the car - Radiohead's OK Computer and QOTSA's Era Vulgaris, which might be their worst album, but still has four or five songs that totally crank, so we just played them over and over again. Beats Metal Machine Music, anyways....
I've seen 'em live twice - one time they played all their old stuff, and the other they played all their new stuff, and I could watch 'em a million times more.
