* First appeared on the Tearoom in the long ago and innocent days of June 2011. I stand by all the choices, but there had to be some revisions - partly because they have been loads of films in the past nine years that have knocked me on my fucking arse, but also because it was just a blokey list, full of movies by white, straight English-speaking men, it made me feel like such a rube. There wasn't a single female director in there, so I went back in and added a few. Still not good enough, really, but if I repeat the list in another nine years, I'll try to do better..
