War on Gaza
By Joe Sacco
There is so much shit going down around the world so fast, and it leaves this book feeling like both a knee-jerk reaction to the ongoing horrors being inflicted on the people of Gaza, and something that is already irreparably dated.
So much of the book is spent painting Biden as the latest in a long line of bogeymen presidents, and while there are certainly points to be made about this, it already seems almost quaint when the current motherfucker-in-chief is talking about straight-up ethnic cleansing and building a fucking resort on the bones of the dead.
Sacco is one of our finest journalists in comics, and his art and design work is as beautiful as ever, but this comic feels slight compared to the spill of filth coming through our TV screens every day, and piling up in a heap of shame, which the people who perpetuate the slaughter will never acknowledge, or even recognise. One little comic in all the ongoing disgraces of humanity feels like just a drop in an ocean of blood.
