Lost in the library (part 4 of 13) - World's Finest: Teen Titans

World’s Finest: Teen Titans
By Mark Waid and Emanuela Lupacchino

I recently came across an old issue of Adventure Comics which I think was my first introduction to Wonder Girl, and while it was a very generic story, and even though I am 50 goddamn years old, I still feel the remnants of a deep adolescent crush on Donna Troy.

It’s never been easy to be a Donna fan after she ended up marrying that ginger dipshit, going through all sorts of heartaches, and having her entire history changed and prodded by people who should no better.

So there is always room for a Teen Titans comic where Donna is fun, and loud, and full of life. Where Donna is confident and powerful, with enough 21st century vibes to still feel like a real person, but crucially not weighed down by the endless reboots. I could read a hundred issues of Mark Waid and Lupacchino’s version, even if I felt like an old creep for feeling such fondness for a teenager who was so grown up when I was a little boy.
